Q/A with Tom Gower of Total Titans
18 to 88 Colts Blog &bull Dec 15, 2011
It's that time again! One of the great side benefits of playing the Titans is another Q/A with Tom Gower of Total Titans and the Football Outsiders. Tom's last Q/A was honest to God one of the highlights of the whole season for the Colts. I think they are going to put it on the NFL Films video yearbook. Tom's a great guy, and he's coming in for the game this week. Here are my questions and his answers.ND: The Titans have already won 7 games for what would be the 12th time in 15 seasons in Tennessee. That's a… Full Story »

Tuesday Open Thread: What If?
18 to 88 Colts Blog &bull Dec 13, 2011
What if the Colts had gone undefeated in 2009? Obviously it would make this season all the more ironic. But would the Packers run dampen it? The argument at the time was that going undefeated was this impossible task and… Full Story »

Mythbusting
18 to 88 Colts Blog &bull Dec 12, 2011
There's a popular refrain in some quarters these days that the Colts 0-13 start proves that Peyton Manning was the only good thing about the Colts for the last decade. Many have argued that the Colts have secretly been a terrible team and that Manning was winning 12 games on his own every year. I doubt there is anyone in the world more convinced of the greatness of Peyton F. Manning than I am, but even I have my limits. There have been moments and seasons when, yes, Peyton carried the Colts. Notably, in the 2002 season, Manning and Harrison… Full Story »

Many of you know how this season has been a complete and total struggle for me. Thanks in part to the release of Invincible, Indiana, I haven't had the time and energy to make this site the best it can be every single day. The maintenance and business side of running my own site has gotten overwhelming. I hate waking up in the morning and posting an open thread because I know… Full Story »

The Two Year Rebuild
18 to 88 Colts Blog &bull Nov 21, 2011
What changed between 1997 and 1999? How did the Colts manage to turn over the whole roster to go from also-ran to contender in just two seasons? Surely, there must have been a major influx of talent that made the difference. The 1999 Colts are perhaps the best example of the fact that rebuilding in the NFL is a simple as finding a quarterback. I say it often, but the NFL is NOT the NBA. It is not Major League Baseball. In those sports, rebuilding takes time. In the… Full Story »

Note: I'll be traveling over the weekend. With the Colts on a bye week, no harm can be done. There are four teams with two wins right now: Carolina, Miami, Minnesota, and St. Louis. The Colts play Carolina next week.… Full Story »

Tuesday Open Thread: Moving On

Polian says the Colts have talked with Manning about drafting a QB. I thought I had read quotes a couple of weeks ago about Manning understanding if the Colts have to take Luck, so I didn't really think this was… Full Story »
